About Yale New Haven Health SystemCorporate ServicesSystem Business Office (SBO) System Business OfficeThe System Business Office (SBO) provides system entities with opportunities to share common business operations and functions, such as budget and finance, internal audit, patient account and admitting services and information systems. These shared services allow the system to improve quality, achieve cost savings and avoid needless duplication of services. Supply chain managementAs part of an ongoing effort to identify cost savings and create efficiencies, YNHHS has committed to a corporate materials management system. This model, which creates a centralized materials management department at the system level, has begun to achieve significant annual savings on supply costs for each corporate member. Savings are achieved through a focus on standardizing products and reducing utilization. Initial savings occurred through the review and coordination of contracts across the system and the renegotiation of contracts based on volume. Physician communication network
Yale New Haven Health System has developed a physician communication network called MDlink, a web-based information system for physicians. MDlink enables physicians to securely access the hospital's core clinical information systems and obtain lab and other test results, significantly increasing efficiency and making the hospital services easier to use. MDlink also includes links to online comprehensive health information as well as the latest medical information and journals, clinical guidelines and online forums. Other central servicesYale New Haven Health also provides central human resources, planning, marketing and performance improvement support to its affiliated networks to foster coordination. |
