To reduce loss of life, injury and illness by developing and delivering services within Connecticut, across the nation and around the world that advance healthcare planning, preparedness, response and recovery from emergency events and disasters through collaborative partnerships and coordinated programs.

Our vision is to be a recognized leader regionally, nationally and internationally in emergency management for the health-related aspects of emergencies and disasters.
Our history
The Yale New Haven Center for Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Response (YNH-CEPDR) continues to evolve to address pandemic influenza, mass casualty events, natural disasters, manmade incidents, hazardous material incidents and severe weather.

| 2009 | YNH-CEPDR is awarded the GSA Federal Acquisition Services Schedule 84 and 874 MOBIS |
| 2009 | Yale New Haven Health System creates Yale New Haven Health System Center for Healthcare Solutions |
| 2008 | FEMA awards YNH-CEPDR a training grant to address the evacuation and shelter-in-place needs of medically dependent people during a disaster |
| 2007 | YNH-CEPDR leads educational workshop on standards for hospitals at WADEM in Amsterdam |
| 2007 | YNH-CEPDR manages scientific session for The Joint Commission National Emergency Management Conference |
| 2006 | YNH-CEPDR is designated as an AHRQ ACTION Consortium |
| 2006 | YNH-CEPDR is awarded funding from the US Department of Defense and creates the National Center for Integrated Civilian-Military Domestic Disaster Medical Response (ICMDDMR) |
| 2005 | YNH-CEPDR hosts the International Congress on Disaster Medicine and Emergency Management |
| 2004 | YNH-CEPDR becomes a CDC-designated Center for Public Health Preparedness |
| 2004 | YNH-CEPDR is awarded funds to provide emergency preparedness, education and training throughout New England |
| 2003 | YNH-CEPDR is awarded funds to provide emergency preparedness, education and training across Connecticut |
| 2002 | The State of Connecticut Department of Public Health designates YNHHS as a Center of Excellence for Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response |
| 2001 | As a result of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the Yale New Haven Health System created the YNH-CEPDR |
